How do you deal with disagreement? It is an uncomfortable question for anyone who recognizes that no one is perfect, and therefore, everyone is wrong from time to time. The question is made more explicitly uncomfortable when we clarify: how do you deal with disagreement, once you realize you are wrong? Libraries are filled with … Continue reading You’re not an idiot! You’re just wrong!
But who will fund the wars?
/* musings on crypto-anarchy */ I was sitting at a bar in the Lower Haight yesterday; a guy next to me notices the bitcoin pin on my satchel, so we start talking about crypto-currencies for the time of a beer. I describe a bit of what I do, and Mike does the same. As it … Continue reading But who will fund the wars?
S.O.S – Calling All Humans.
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change … Continue reading S.O.S – Calling All Humans.
The Uncertainty Principle: Reconciling Postmodernism with Realism

This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means. - Wendell Barry.
The heaviest penalty for declining to rule is to be ruled by someone inferior to yourself. - Plato, The Republic.
Government – The Original Fear Factor.
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will … Continue reading Government – The Original Fear Factor.
